HKUST is proud to be the first university in Hong Kong to partner with Agewhale and launch the Workplace Caregiver Support Program on campus. The program reflects our dedication to creating an inclusive campus where everyone feels supported.
To mark the launch of the Program, the Diversity and Equal Opportunities Unit, in collaboration with the Human Resources Office, would like to invite you to an upcoming caregiving sharing session and staff volunteering session supported by Agewhale.
Caregiving Sharing Session

Join us for an interactive session where you will learn about the "why" of caregiving and how to build a supportive culture for those with caregiving needs. You will also hear personal sharing from caregivers (in Cantonese or English) on the joy and challenges of their journeys.
Date and time: 1-2 p.m., May 7, 2026 (Event registration starts at 12:30 p.m.; Light food and beverages will be provided)
Venue: Tsang Shiu Tim Art Hall, HKUST Campus, Clear Water Bay
Language: English and Cantonese
Audience: Open to all HKUST staff and students
How to register: Please register early to reserve your seat herewith your HKUST email to be part of the conversation. Seats will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Notes to registrants
This is a HMAW1905-recognized event in the “Personal Enrichment & Community Service” category under the "Self-directed Experience" of HMAW1905: Behavioral Foundations of University Education: Habits, Mindsets, and Wellness. To receive 1 hour, you must attend the event in full and miss no more than 10 mins.
Staff Volunteer to Support Caregivers

Join us for an interactive session where our staff volunteers will be grouped into different coaching stations and provide a range of support from job search skills to public speaking practice and career development sharing based on the caregivers’ needs (whether they are seeking to re-enter the workforce in the near future).
Date and time: 2:30-5 p.m., May 7, 2026 (Event registration starts at 2:00 p.m.)
Venue: Alumni Commons, HKUST Campus, Clear Water Bay
Language: English and Cantonese
Skills required:

Experience with the recruitment process as people managers

Experience in coaching peers to navigate professional settings with confidence

Understanding of the fundamental premises of what makes good presentations in group settings

Proficiency in both Cantonese and English
Who can register: People managers in HKUST faculty and staff community

Notes to registrants
As part of the Impact Makers Program, HKUST staff can take special leave to join this volunteering activity. Please note that prior approval should be obtained from your supervisor and Head of Department and use this email for your special leave application.
Interested staff members are encouraged to attend the caregiving sharing session that will be held at 1-2 p.m. on the same day (please refer to above). In addition to an on-site briefing, guidelines will also be provided to volunteers ahead of the session.

Agewhale is a Hong Kong-based social enterprise committed to empower and support both individuals and businesses in navigating the complexities of elder care. The Program entails this caregiver sharing session which will be followed by a staff volunteering opportunity as well as a manager training session.
