About

“Colors of Inclusion” provides an opportunity for HKUST members to showcase their creativity, thoughts and imaginations about inclusion through arts and colors.  By displaying the artworks, the University hopes to promote the uniqueness of individuals and diverse talents in the HKUST community, challenge discrimination, and cultivate an inclusive environment at HKUST.

We encourage HKUST students, staff and their families to submit an original piece of art that relates to the theme: “Colors of Inclusion”.

The entry could be visual art, such as a painting, drawing, comic; or a written work, such as a poem or short story that brings out the message of diversity, equity and/or inclusion at HKUST.

 

Eligibility

Current staff and students (both full-time and part-time) at the time of submission.

 

Requirements

  1. The artwork should pertain to the theme – "Colors of Inclusion", which may include the following elements:
    - Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
    - Respect
    - Acceptance
    - Empathy
    - Preventing discrimination and/or harassment
  2. All submissions should not be bigger than A3-size (297mmx 420mm).
  3. Digital artworks (artwork produced by GenAI are welcome) should be printed out on A3-size papers for submission, with at least 300 DPI.
  4. The submission may be in any medium; however, 3D artworks, sculptures, photographs or scanned images will not be accepted.
  5. Any text on the artwork should be in English.
  6. Each submission should include a title and/or description of artwork (not more than 100 words).

 

Submission

  1. All submissions must be submitted together with a printed Application Form OR the online Application Form by 12nn on 30 August 2024 (Friday). Late submissions will not be considered.
  2. Each person/group can submit one artwork only.
  3. The participant's name and staff/ student ID number should be provided on the back of the artwork.
  4. By submitting an entry, the participants agree to abide by the Terms and Conditions of the Exhibition.
  5. All artwork submissions should be submitted by hand together with the printed or online form to

    Submission Hour:  9:00 am – 12:45 pm or 2:00 pm – 5:15 pm
    (Mon to Fri, except weekends and public holidays)

 

Exhibition

A maximum of 50 artworks will be selected to be exhibited in October 2024 at HKUST. Creators of the selected artwork will be notified by email.

Note: Participants may join one of the workshops in late June and August 2024 to get some inspiration.

 

Appreciation

  1. Each selected participant/group will receive a $200 movie ticket voucher as a token of appreciation.
  2. Selected participants must collect their prizes in person with their staff/student identity card presented for verification.

 

Terms and Conditions

The Diversity and Equal Opportunities Unit of VPABO, Community for Enhancing Intercultural Learning Experiences, and Rainbow Birds of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (“Organizer”) are the organizers of the “Colors of Inclusion: Artwork Exhibition” (“Exhibition”). All participants should read the Terms and Conditions before submitting their entries.

  1. The submitted artwork must be original, solely owned by the participant, and free from infringement of any existing intellectual property rights.
  2. By submitting the artwork, the participants agree to accept that HKUST has the right to display or publish photos and images of the artwork and the artwork in any official printed materials and online publications or use them to promote HKUST in all forms of HKUST media.
  3. The decisions of the Organizer are final. The Organizer reserves the right to exclude or disqualify any entry at any time if it is believed to breach the Terms and Conditions, HKUST regulations, or Hong Kong laws.
  4. The Organizer reserves the right to make the final decision, including canceling, suspending, changing, or terminating the Exhibition, and the right to modify the Terms and Conditions for any reason at any time the Organizer deems fit.
  5. The Organizer accepts no liability for any submission delay or loss.
  6. Personal data collected in the entry forms will be used solely for events and activities related to the Exhibition.
