As a manager, balancing team performance with the personal well-being of your colleagues is no easy task – especially when team members are silently juggling caregiving responsibilities.

To support you, the Diversity and Equal Opportunities Unit, in collaboration with the Human Resources Office, invites you to an exclusive, interactive leadership training session.

HKUST is proud to be the first university in Hong Kong to partner with Agewhale to launch the Workplace Caregiver Support Program. This upcoming session reflects our dedication to creating an inclusive campus where everyone feels supported—starting with our leaders.

We are honored to kick off the event with opening sharing by Professor Stephen Shih, Associate Dean (MBA Programs) and Professor Stuart Gietel-Basten, Associate Dean of Humanities and Social Science. They will help set the tone for the training and inspire our participants as they begin their learning journey on inclusive leadership.

What you will Gain

  • Communicate with Empathy: Use a structured framework to discuss caregiving challenges with empathy while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Manage Team Dynamics: Handle real-life scenarios—like sudden absences and workload redistribution—fairly and effectively.
  • Build an Inclusive Culture: Develop concrete strategies to foster an environment where staff feel safe, valued, and engaged.
